Part. 2 of my interview with Denise Jackson of Emerging Art Scene. Denise talks about the Atlanta art scene, art collectors, art events, and private art parties.

For those of you new to the art community I want to help ease you into becoming an art collector. I have collected art for more than 12 years and enjoy meeting and supporting the art community. My favorite artist is Salvador Dali.’ He was a pure genius!  I tend to collect art that makes you think, anything from abstract to realistic. I like scenes of nature, a picture that tells a different story every time you look at it, or something that is filled with struggle and angst.

Beginners Top 10 Tips For Buying Art

  1. Go to several galleries and art events to find out what you like.
  2. Set your budget before purchasing
  3. Look at  new and established artists
  4. Check your living or office area for space, color, theme ideas
  5. Consider commissioning an original piece with an art student
  6. Go to estate and going out of business sales in upscale areas to get deals
  7. Use an art consultant/dealer when buying unusual art or multiple pieces
  8. Do not bargain price with a famous artist, that is s a major faux pas!
  9. Get free art by agreeing to pose for an artist
  10. Don’t let anyone tell you what great art is, this is purely your taste.

I interviewed good friend Denise Jackson of Emerging Art Scene, she talked about dealing with art collectors, art events, and private art parties in Atlanta, Georgia.

For art collectors that live in Atlanta then you know about the great events that Emerging Art Scene put together. Some of them are swank private art parties featuring some of the best artists in the US. One of my pictures on the header of this blog, where I am standing with Denise and some friends, was a showing for William Rosotto and David Rams. This art event was very well received by guests.

I am an art collector and have seen the art community grow and emerge as a place where various artist showcase their work and proudly call Atlanta home. Amongst the famous artists that live in Atlanta is my friend Hans Frabel, the best glass artist in the world.

People not familiar with the art world might want to know, why would someone use the services of an art consultant?

Denise will be answering this question later.

This is part 2 of my interview with branding expert David Cohen of Equation Arts. Branding is essential to a company. He is a branding expert that helps new and established businesses. David knows a lot about personal branding and corporate branding Check out his video and my branding tips below:

Ten Branding Tips To Help Your Business
1. Train all employees about your brand’s mission. If your company is sells discount casual clothes, do not have ads showing the CEO in an Armani suit.
2. Changes in company direction need to be reflected in all aspects of your business.
3. Get staff input into building your brand.
4. Match your company’s personality to the value in the market place. Products, commercials, customer service, should match your brand.
5. Build brand loyalty by earning your customers trust. Reward loyalty with premiums, free offers, upgrades.
6. Your branding strategy should be a well oiled machine in constant motion. Repeat your company’s core value to employees and customers to drive the message home.
7. Build your brand in layers, each piece feeds the next phase of your plan.
8. Be consistent, consistent, consistent. Nothing messes up branding worse than inconsistent messages.
9. Create a niche different than competition and build your brand around that specialty. Niches should be exploited to the fullest!
10. Read books on branding strategy. The Brand Gap by Marty Neumeir is a great book about branding.

Pt. 1 Equation Arts: Corporate Branding and Personal Branding

I interviewed David Cohen of Equation Arts and discussed how branding is important for a business to attract clients. He is a branding expert that helps new and established businesses. His branding tips were quite helpful, so watch below:

What is Branding?

I am surprised by the number of companies I talk that don’t know the meaning of branding. It is such an important question that every business should know the answer. If you want your business to get great clients, know what branding is and how to implement it to make money.

Branding is your business’ personality. Such a short answer, I know. But it consists of several components to come into fruition. Branding is not products and services or marketing strategies. If you have great branding then your products and services will flourish.

Personal Branding

Take me for an example. I have a personal brand, separate from my marketing and communications business. Read More…

Part 2 of my interview with Suzanne Foley of Surfside Group. Thanks everyone for the emails saying you loved part 1.

Suzanne knows a lot information about Internet marketing. One of the questions I asked her dealt with how to choose an Internet marketing service for your business. Listen to what she has to say.

What is Internet Marketing?

Internet marketing is anything you do online to promote your business. Even if you don’t sell products or services online, you need to have an Internet presence and marketing plan to capture potential customers.

Online shopping has increased over 40% in the last three years, so make sure you tap into the customers that are searching for you online.

Moths Love the Light. HighLIGHT Your Business, So the Moths (Customers) Swarm Over YOU

1. List your business in online directories
2. Put an email collector button on your Website. (Look at the one I have on this site)
3. Get customer reviews on Kudzu, Merchant Circle, and social media sites . ( This info shows up on online searches)
4. Make videos demonstrating your products
5. Make informational videos showing you are an expert.( This is NOT selling your services)
6. Set up Q&A sessions on your Facebook page
7.Do pay-per-click campaigns (PPC) on Google and Yahoo

I had a great time interviewing Suzanne Foley of Surfside Group about her business and getting some marketing strategy tips. Check out my question for the day below. Here is part 1 of her video now:

Internet marketing, outsourced sales, and marketing and business development strategies are things we discussed during the interview and after we got done. Many of these services are useful for companies that are small and expanding, but can’t afford a full-time sales and marketing staff to implement marketing strategies.

When a small company gets demand for services they need to be able to meet client needs to get to the next level of expansion, which may include raising venture capital. This is something Suzanne knows a lot about since she has helped clients secure capital.

So my question is:
Q: What is the best way to fund a start-up company?

Suzanne will answer that question today, so if you are a start up feel free to post your comments and questions.

No, it isn’t what you think.. LOL I am referring to the title of his book
Get Off Your “But” and that Sean doesn’t want my “but”, (my excuses) for not living life fully. And he wants this for everyone in the world.

I read his great motivational and inspirational book in exactly 40 minutes. Get Off Your “But” stresses the importance of loving yourself unconditionally, loving people, getting past insecurities, and never limiting yourself. I especially love pages 167-169 where he talks about friendship and having the right “Pit Crew.” That’s all I am going to tell you because you will have to buy his book to read further about what I’m talking about.

Sean Stephenson was a guest speaker at my friend Joe Polish’s event. Sean and Joe had my abs hurting from laughing so much. I’m looking at Sean’s business card right now, the word “STANDING” is in bold blue letters. He should add underneath, “Stand up comedy tour coming soon to a city near you!” Anyone that has met him will agree with me on this. Check out this interview with him about his book.

His event included: marketing strategies, marketing tips, business coaching, great speakers, a tradeshow, and much more.
Some of the most successful cleaning companies assembled from all over the world to share their marketing tips and stories on how Piranha Marketing (Joe’s company) has made monumental changes in their business and personal lives. BTW, he also advises Internet marketers as well.

RCC guest speakers included: Sean Stephenson, Tony Hsieh from Zappos (damn it you didn’t bring me some shoes), Matt Mullenweg, founder of Wordpress, Hugh Downs, Strategic Coach, Garrett Gunderson, and others

I met Joe Polish at the Stompernet Live 8 Convention in Atlanta several months and heard him speak. We even had lunch and he mentored me for an hour. If you have never heard him speak, let me tell you, he is a dynamic speaker, motivator, and a whiz at marketing. He has the energy of a Mexican jumping bean and business smarts out of this world. Too bad I can’t shrink him and keep in my pocket for the days when nothing is going right!
