Marketing Expert. Social Media Queen. Socialite. Writer. Lover of Life.

Who is Dee Doanes?

That is such a loaded and complex question, depending on who you talk to. So, I decided to give you two versions. One version is the standard business bio telling about my business background. You know “I did this for this company, I am great at what I do, blah, blah blah” typical business stuff. It is great, but I don’t define myself solely based on how much money I make and how many clients I have.

The other version will give you a good idea of what my personality is like. You decide what you want to read and which version of me you prefer. You may find that you like both. My business stuff is right here. Scroll down below that to learn about my personality.

Business Version

About seven years ago I started a marketing and communications company that grew into Jigsaw Business Communications and Marketing. It is a boutique agency specializing in meeting the ever expanding need for 21st Century business communications, including Internet and Web 2.0 marketing, public speaking for executives, book writing and marketing, copywriting, corporate communications workshops, multi-media production and project management.

I have more than 15 years experience meeting the corporate communications needs of firms medium and large, in sectors ranging from technology to government contracting, arts and entertainment, hospitality and tourism, city planning, international law, wealth management, fine dining restaurants, commercial and residential real estate and manufacturing, to name just a few.  I also am the former co-chair of the Writing in the Schools Program for Georgia Writers, and have also been featured on Thrive America (www.thriveamerica.com) and Your Business Channel (www.yourbusinesschannel.com).

Great businesses need great communication and marketing. Yes, I believe that phrase wholeheartedly. I also believe that all businesses can communicate in a lively, creative and engaging manner.  And I love this quote I gave a reporter recently, “Most importantly, great business communication increases your customer base, improves employee productivity, streamlines customer service and impacts your bottom line.”

I am based in Atlanta, Georgia, and have clients in Washington, D.C., Miami, New York, Chicago, Nashville and Los Angeles. My agency has a strong nationwide network of  top flight Web designers, graphic designers, copywriters, printers, video producers, photographers and other media professionals, ensuring that clients get the “best of the best” when planning corporate communication campaigns; regardless of location.

Personal Version

In the Beginning

Okay, let’s start from the beginning. The beginning guides you to the present that sets the pace for the future. I have done many things in my professional life including: travel writer, published poet, greeting card company, head copywriter for an international ad agency, brand strategist, event planner, media training. But above anything else, I always have chosen experiences that allow me to be a creative thinker.

Creative thinking helps grow cultures and form societies. New ideas develop, technologies develop, cures develop, and inventions develop. Mankind is developed by creative thinking—thinking outside the box. Think of what has yet to be discovered for centuries on end, from creative thinking!

How Did I Become Successful in Life?

I have a knack for finding successful people to mentor and train me. Many people have contributed to my knowledge. I am self taught. Sort of. You see, there really is no such thing as being self taught since learning is not done by yourself, even if you are the only pupil in class. Learning and teaching are interactive endeavors in which both teacher and student learn from each other. In some cases, I have learned a great deal by listening and mentally taking notes from people who didn’t even know they were my teachers! Students are teachers. Teachers are students. (This is based on Asian philosophy.)That is the only way you can keep an open mind and continually learn throughout your life and benefit others.

Based on this, I can tell you that ANYONE can train themselves to run a successful business, if they have passion, drive and surround themselves with great teachers. I know this seems simple, but I find that humans complicate things too much, which cause many problems in business, personal, and life in general. I will post something later on about keeping things simple.
